LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, USA -- Hoping to boost its business, casino currency and gaming equipment supplier Gaming Partners International Corporation (GPI) is setting its sight to the gambling haven of Macau in the Far East for its growth. The firm recently released its results for the second quarter of the year showing a gross profit of US$4.6 million versus the US$8.6 million it tallied in the same period last year. GPI stated that the decrease in revenues was due to poor sales in the US but the amount was offset with the US$ 1 million project of installing RFID hardware and software solutions at the Galaxy Macau casino.
In its results, GPI has stated that its revenues for the first half of the year were driven by sales in Asia and thus is hoping to grow the business more in the region.
According to CPI President and CEO Gregory Gronau:
"Our results for the second quarter and the first half of the year were driven by higher revenues in Asia. We created a new subsidiary based in Macau to provide sales and service support in this region, as it currently represents the area of greatest expansion in gaming worldwide."
GPI also announced that the company was recently selected to be the provider of chips and plaques for the Sands Cotai Central project, representing an order of somewhere near US$ 3 million.
GPI also recently appointed Scott McCarthy as Vice-President of Sales for the Asian region. The former Director of Cage and Count for Macau's City of Dreams, McCarthy brings to GPI over 15 years experience in Cage currency operations as well as his expertise in VIP / junket operations.
Gronau welcomed McCarthy's appointment with enthusiasm:
"I am pleased to welcome Scott to GPI's global management team and am confident that he will play a key role in our ongoing support and growth throughout this key Gaming region. Scott's expertise in Casino Currency Operations and Management and his depth of experience in Casino RFID implementation will be a tremendous asset as we leverage our Chip Inventory System and other RFID products in new and exciting ways to support the Casino currency tracking needs of our valued customers."
